Range Rover Hybrid completes Silk Trail Expedition to India
Land Rover has been busy for the last 53 days taking a trio of Range Rover Hybrids down the Silk Trail from Land Rover’s home in the Midlands to Tata’s home in India. In the process, the three Range Rover Hybrids, and their Land Rover support vehicles, have covered 10,472 miles in 53 days covering every terrain imaginable – and averaged 36mpg in the process. The whole point of the outing was to give the hybrid Range Rover a proper workout ahead of its customer launch, and the trek to India certainly provided that with everything from sea level to 5500 metres and temperatures from -10 to 43C along the way, not to mention the vast array of terrain from tarmac to non-existent byways.
These are the first pictures of the forthcoming Peugeot 308 that replaces the 307. The car will compete predominantly in the lower medium European C-sector along with the Opel Astra, Ford Focus, the class leading Volkswagen Golf, and its PSA sibling: the Citroen C4. The 308 is expected to make its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and be available at launch in 3 and 5 door hatchback body styles with other variants including an estate to follow. The design builds on the tall proportions established by its predecessor and some of the features that the 207 introduced as well as appearing to have been influenced by some Mercedes designs.

It may be Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations in the news at the moment, but McLaren’s own Special Operations has been around since 2011, creating extreme examples of McLaren’s cars for deep-pocketed customers. And they’re back with two new MSO specials for this month’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The most impressive of the two MSO cars is, of course, a special edition of the already very special McLaren P1.
